I did this event with Gary last May after I had been only seriously road riding a few months and it was a fast lesson that the FAST GUYS RIDE - REAL FAST - I did most of the ride alone.
Well 9 months later I'm back and wanted to see how I would do after lots of work training and just tons of riding in 2008.

It was real nice ( dry + 55-60) - 50+ riders - PRO + all CAT HAMMER heads and I was Schooled / Dropped again. I met up with a few stragglers and we made our way to the 1/2 way point . To watch son Gary and a few pro's ( Tim Johnson + wife also PRO, Cody O'Riely + a few of Gary's teammates + other Hammer heads) whipping past on an extra loop they did. On the way back I was spit off the back when they picked up the pace to over 30 MPH .......... I hung as long as I could till I popped....
After the ride we road this fantastic Road - Mountain Road we were up high in the foothiils over looking the Pacific ocean, It was unbielieable. We also went past the Place JFK stayed for his honneymoon. Plus past all the burnt out houses from last years BIG fires...... I need to go back some time this week and take some pic's of the devastation.

Oh Yea Gary picked up his new race Mtn bike for the 2009 season. Sweet 20#'s with pedals .
