Rumney - New Hampshire - Rock Climbing weekend Trip # 12 - 7/14+15

Sport Climbing - Clipping bolts. ( bolts / hangers for fall protection are pre placed { permanatly drilled into the rock} on climbing routes) .

Rumney is a MAJOR East Coast sport climbing destination. The rock is very sharp Shist. After a day of Rumney climbing your fingers are burning. We got a good group of my climbing buddies together this weekend . ( Keith + Sue, Don, Bill ( Keith's Dr. friend) Jonathan + Natasha). Sat the climbing was great I did 12 routes between 5.7 and 5.9+. After climbing in the late afternoon we all jumped in the local creek then had some good food at a cool camp ground right across the street.

My only climbing Pic of the weekend + It was my only Trad route I climbed. The rest were all sport routes .

The Guys trying to DO the BEER dance - After climbing fun - Sat late afternoon.......

Dinner Sat night ---- Yummmmmmmmmm.

Sunday was a total RAIN out and I was bummed for the three hour drive home....

But look what I found in the garden when I got home .....

Tomatoes are doing great - I plan to slice these 1" thick + grill these Monday night with olive oil. Parm Cheese, Garlic , the Fresh Basil in the Pic.

The Cucumber patch is going CRAZY-- they are growing over a foot per week.

Gary : I did this wierd experiment with Cucumbers in Pots + I hung them in a tree, to see if you could do the same in Calif . It's working great get some seeds !!!! The pots are only maybe 12" in Dia. if I water almost every day they are doing fine. How is your patio garden doing ??? DAD

This Cherry Tomato is a bit spindly but they are just starting to turn , and close to the kitchen. The pot to it's right has three Pepper plants - The Halapenos ( Sp???) are ready to start picking..

Rock Climbing trip #10 - June 28- July 1 - Gunks _ Plus a bit of road riding

Keith + Steve did a fantastic climbing trip to the Gunks for 4 days - We planned to climb and ride our road bikes . Day one we climbed almost all day then got a quick thunder shower. So off to town to hit the local climbing shop ( Rock + Snow ) http://www.rocksnow.com/ after spending all my hard earned cash on new gear we went to set up camp. . Day two we climbed most of the day then did a 31 mile road ride - with 3000' of climbing it HURT me BAD . Day three we climbed again most of the day + Keith went + re-did the same loop . I did not and opted to ride 1/2 mile to a brook and take a bath +Relax. The views of the catskills from this ride were fantastic. Use you imagination - forgot camara both days. Day 4 we climbed till we dropped and hit the highway home two big backups made it a long ride home. Good weekend How was VEGAS?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Absurdland 5.9** - My kick A$$ lead of the trip - Whaaa Hoooo. Yes it was hard + Scary . Thanks for the BELAY - Keith !!
After you go up you must go down to start all over again. Most of the Pic's are going up. This is a free hanging rappel down for over 100' of air very COOL !

We had 4 fantastic days like this not bad for New York in the summer .

Grease Gun Groove - Great route -

Big Stretch for that foot hold - Yes I could have found a easier way but it was fun with camera just below.

Got GEAR !

For living out of the Eurovan for 4 days we ate meals like this every night . That's the best dirt bag climbers meal I have ever seen . Not bad for a bikers meal either ..

Base camp for 4 days - Not fancy but it worked ...........
